Company Profile and HistoryThe roots of Wentz Equipment, Inc., stem back into 1934 when Edwin and Adam Wentz started a joint venture called Logan Auto and Implement Company. In 1946, Otto Grenz joined the two Wentzes in their venture. Further expansion came in 1952 when the firm bought the Gerber Implement Company of Hazelton and renamed it the Hazelton Implement Company. After the death of Adam Wentz in 1957, ownership of the two firms was solely Edwin Wentz and Otto Grenz. Wentz Equipment, Inc. was created by the merger of Logan Auto & Implement of Napoleon and Hazelton Implement of Hazelton in 1967 when Rodney Wentz joined his father and purchased the interest of Otto Grenz. After the death of Edwin Wentz in Sept. of 1970, Norman Wentz joined his brother Rodney as a partner and the Hazelton store was closed. It was at this time that Wentz Equipment, Inc. became solely based out of Napoleon. In the fall of 1974, Wentz Equipment, Inc. moved to their new building on Highway 3 north, Napoleon-the current location of the business. The roots of this company go back to 1934, when the first John Deere dealership was started in Napoleon, ND by the Wentz family, and it has stayed in that family ever since.
